What happens to your calls

Written for the person on your team who has to sign off on it.

Your call audio stays on your machine

Speech-to-text runs locally in the desktop app. The audio from your meetings is transcribed on your own computer and is not uploaded to us or to any third party.

What does leave your machine

The transcribed question text is sent to our API, which calls a large language model to generate the answer, and the answer is streamed back. That request is what your plan pays for. It is text only — never audio.

No bot joins your meeting

HandshakeBuddy is not a meeting participant. Nobody sees an extra attendee, no recording banner appears, and no calendar integration is required.

Session history is local

Your past questions and answers are stored in the app on your computer, not in a cloud workspace. Your account record on our side holds your email, licence key and plan status.

The overlay and screen sharing

The overlay window is marked as protected content, which means the operating system excludes it from screen capture. Screen-sharing and screen-recording tools receive the rest of your screen without it.

To be explicit about what that does not cover: a physical camera pointed at your monitor still sees the overlay, as does anyone sitting next to you, and this is not a defence against proctoring software that inspects processes on your machine rather than the video stream. If you are in a monitored exam environment, this is not the right tool.

Payments

Payments are handled by Polar, our merchant of record. Card details are entered on their checkout and never reach our servers — we receive a confirmation that a plan was purchased, tied to your licence key.

Full legal detail is in our privacy policy and terms. If your security team needs something specific, use the chat button and ask.

Try it without handing over anything.

The free plan needs an email address. No card, no calendar access, no meeting bot.
