HandshakeBuddy vs Cluely

Both put live AI answers on a private overlay. The difference is what you pay for invisibility: Cluely sells it as a $149.99/month tier and excludes it from their $19.99 Pro plan, while HandshakeBuddy includes it on every paid plan — starting at a $9.99 day pass.

Where Cluely is the better pick

  • Cluely has a mobile app; we are desktop only.
  • They are a much larger, better-funded company with a bigger team behind the product.
  • Their meeting note-taking and file-upload features are more developed than ours.
  • If you want the most established brand in this category, that is them, not us.

Where we think we win

  • Invisibility on every plan instead of a $149.99 tier — that is the feature most people are actually buying.
  • A $9.99 day pass, so one interview does not mean starting a subscription.
  • A dedicated client-call and negotiation engine that tracks deal phase and refuses to over-promise.
  • Transcription runs locally, so your call audio never leaves your computer.
  • Seven-day refund instead of 24 hours.

Switching questions

No. The overlay is excluded from screen capture at the operating-system level, so when you share your screen — Zoom, Meet, Teams, or a recording tool — those pixels are never sent. What they see is your screen without it. To be straightforward about the limits: this protects against screen sharing and screen recording. It does not make the overlay invisible to a camera pointed at your monitor, to someone sitting next to you, or to proctoring software that inspects your machine rather than the video stream.
